We have managed to get a few packs of Triangular Noses and some different colours in Cats & Teddy eyes. Some are discontinued stock so we will not be able to get any more - they have been noted online as While Stocks Last. Apparently the manufacturer has gone out of business - which is a real shame as they are lovely colours.

HOLIDAY OPENING HOURS

It has been almost 18 months since most of us at Craft Bits had a holiday so we have decided to close a little longer than usual over the New Year period. A link to the opening hours page will shortly be put on the Home Page of the Website for all customers to see but a summery is given below to give you a little more notice. Full details are already on the Customer Forum.

Craft Bits will close at 1pm on Friday 23rd December and will fully re-open at 9am Monday 9th January 2006 although there will be a limited service on 27th & 28th December and 6th January 2006. The Shopping Cart will still be active so you can place your orders as normal at any time over the holidays. Your details will be held on a 128 encryption Secure Server until we re-open. Full details of last posting dates will be on the opening hours page on the website. This does mean that the website will not be updated so some items may go out of stock - we hope you understand - we will email you as soon as we can if this happens.

Autumn 2005 - Newsletter

Quite a few Halloween and Christmas items have already been added, although we are not sure we want to think about Xmas just yet. Full list below.

Single Colour Stems in Tinsel, Chenille and Bump are all now available in boxes of 100 (Bump will be 2 boxes of 50). Some eyes have been added in packs of 50 pairs and Silver Keyrings are now online in packs of 1000 but there may be a delay in supplying this size if it proves popular. We hope other items will be added in larger packs as we make more room.

We have just had a little re-vamp of the navigation on the site. All the Craft Items are now on the side bar with information type links at the top, also there is now a direct link to the Customer Forum. We are going to redesign the logo shortly - there is a temporary one on the site at the moment. Most of the large text on the site has been adjusted down a little as it seemed a bit overpowering. If you find anything that doesn't work since the change or don't like something we have done please let us know.

NEW STOCK ADDED

A couple of customers have noticed that some of the items on the website (like Search & the FUN pages) do not work if you do not have JavaScripts enabled - please contact us if you need more information on this.

From Friday 9th September 2005 about 10am to 3pm our email account was out of action. If you sent us an email during this time you would have got a 'Bounce' message. Unfortunately this was beyond our control and hopefully has now been fixed. If you sent a message during this time that required an answer please send again. Orders were not affected as these are not emailed.

Summer 2005 - Newsletter

Unbelievable Brown Opaque Pony Beads are still out of stock and we have no idea when they will be available again. Every time we ring our supplier we ask when they will be back in, but their hands are tied by the company who manufacture them. We will put them back online as soon as we get them.

On some of our pages there is a pink i symbol More information on this productwhich will take you to a page with more information on the items on that page. It has things like sizes, what they are made from and suggestions for what you can do with them. There is also a form you can fill in to give us your own tips and uses for the items which will then be added to the page.

The Special Offers pages are going well with quite a few items sold out - these are usually items which we will no longer be stocking or things left over from when we had a retail outlet. More will be coming over the next few months including beads, buttons & zips.

We will not be stocking Tinsel Pompom in the future. When colours run out they will be taken off line so please buy enough for your project as we cannot guarantee they will still be there next time you order.

Brown Cotton Cord has been removed from sale as it is coming in about the same colour as the Natural - we were struggling to see which reel was which ! If we manage to get some more we will put them back online.

To comply with the Internet spam guidelines we need to change the 'subscribe me' area of the shopping cart. The default will now be 'No Updates' and you will need to change this to 'YES' to subscribe - however existing subscribers will not be unsubscribed if they leave it as NO. Previously we had to manually check the orders with 'No Updates' to see if they were already subscribers and change them to NO. Spring 2005 - Newsletter

Brown Opaque Pony Beads - many of you have been searching for these - so have we. Apparently they are very rare at the moment - the main American company that manufacture them are a bit slow off the mark and everywhere seems to have sold out. This probably wouldn't normally be a problem (brown is not our fastest selling colour) but apparently we were listed as a supplier in a Childrens Craft Magazine and the subject was Brownie Beadies. We supply lots of Brownie, Cub, Scout and Guide packs (I used to be a Snowy Owl myself at one time) and realise we have let a lot of you down by not being able to get any Brown Opaque Pony Beads. We can only say sorry and assure you that as soon as our supplier gets some they will be hot footing their way to us - we will put them back online as soon as we get them.

Winter 2004/5 - Newsletter

Happy New Year to all our Customers & Friends

We were hoping to send this update a little earlier in the month - hence the greeting above - but we have been so busy, more on that later.

CUSTOMER FORUM
This is not going quite as well as we had hoped it would - there are a lot of people looking but you all seem to be shy. It costs nothing to register, we do not sell your email address to anyone and will not bombard you with adverts. We are particularly surprised that the 'high scores' section hasn't been used as we know a lot of you enjoy doing the quizzes and games - don't hide your light under a bushel - let us know if you are a genius or even which type of quiz you prefer. The Customer Craft Forum can be found on the FUN pages.

BUSY, BUSY
Some of you may know we were short staffed while I went into Hospital for a small operation. It did not go too well and took me longer to recuperate than we expected. That is one of the reasons this email is late. The other is that we are unexpectedly busy - the couple of months after Christmas and before Easter are usually slow. We then have time to review our stock, put some lines on 'special' to clear and make room for new stock. We visit a Trade Fair in February and like to have all this done before we go. We have been working 7 days a week to try and catch up but seem to be getting nowhere fast. However, as orders are our priority, these are still going out on time.

NEW STOCK

Since the last newsletter we have added Polystyrene Balls, Glitter Glue, Bump Chenille Stems, Magnetic Shapes and Cotton Cord in 50m Reels. We will shortly be adding Clear Pony Beads in single colours. We hope to add Polystyrene Egg Shapes for Easter, more sizes in the Self Seal Bags, Black Ball Noses and Teddy Joints.

We are still looking into stocking paper balls, feathers, felt, jewellery clasps, metallic leather thonging, foam sheets, different sized dolls, glue pens and anything else that takes our eye at the Trade Show. Please let us know if there is anything else you would like us to look into supplying.

Autumn 2004 - Newsletter

Welcome to all our customers and friends, old and new.

AUGUST HOLIDAYS
Thanks to everyone who made our holiday 'closure' as easy as possible - we had very few people who were 'put out' by not getting their order as quickly as usual. Orders were down during August but they have really bounced back with September being our second best month ever.

CUSTOMER FORUM
We have been looking for a Customer Craft Forum for many, many months and have at last found one we think works well. It has been up and running for a month but very few people have been on - hopefully because they don't know about it yet. It has a couple of different areas - Craft Questions, Website and General.

Craft Questions is fairly self explanatory - post your questions for others to answer.

In the Website section you can ask questions about using the forum, give us feedback or ask questions about the Craft Bits website, let us know if there is any items you would like us to stock and High Scores - more on that later. We will also add notifications of any new stock added to the website.

The General section is .... well .... General. You can post about anything here, it doesn't have to be craft related. Something in the outside world annoying you? Sound off about it here - just keep it clean!

We look forward to hearing from you all and hope the Forum is a useful addition to the Craft Bits website.

FUN PAGES
We love quizzes - that is the only reason we have added them to the website - please let us know what you think. One of the sections on the new Customer Forum is 'High Scores', we hope you will add your comments about the Fun Pages and how well you are doing on the games and quizzes, we trust you to be honest about your scores. A new quiz is added every month so please keep browsing.

NEW STOCK
Leather Thonging, Imitation Thonging and Elastic Cord are all now available by the reel, hopefully Cotton Cord will also be available in 50m reels soon. We have added some new Cool Foam Art Kits - Princess, Castle, Safari, Flowers and Merry Christmas - they really are ideal for presents as they include everything you need to make the whole picture. New Self Adhesive Foam Stickers include Glow in the Dark Stars, Glow in the Dark Suns and Sparkle Birthday. You can find Tiny Star Sequins in Gold, Silver and Mixed packs on the Others Page - Sequins. There are 3 new designs in the Iron-on Rhinestone range and 2 new colours in the Tinsel Stems.

We are continuing to look at new items including polystyrene and paper balls, feathers, felt, jewellery clasps, metallic leather thonging, foam sheets, different sized dolls, different types of stems, different sizes of self seal bags, glue pens, magnetic shapes & black ball noses. It may be a few months before we can get all these online - we need to make some space first. Let us know if you are interested in any of these items and we may make them the first things we get.

Welcome to all our customers and friends, old and new.

UPDATE FROM LAST NEWSLETTER
In our Spring Newsletter we outlined the history, present day and future of Craft Bits. Thank you for all your comments on this. If you missed that email you can now view it online - please click HERE. 

Thank you to everyone who used the Voting Forms on the product pages. We have collated your replies and already implemented some of the suggestions. The Voting forms have now been removed but you can still let us know if you would like other pack sizes or items by emailing us at  

NEW STOCK
Some new stock has already been added, this includes Kits for Children (Pompom Kits, Cool Foam Art Kits, Plastic Canvas Kits), Tinsel (or Glitter) Stems, Pearl Flower Pony Beads, 'Made By' Labels, Foam Stickers, 11 inch Fashion Dolls, Sequins & Seed Beads. We will also have Ceramic Magnets back in stock as soon as our supplier can get some. 

BIGGER PACKS
We have already added larger pack sizes in Mini Pony Beads (1000) & Opaque Pony Beads (1000). Other items we will have in larger packs in the near future are Chenille Stems (boxes of 100) and full reels of Leather Thonging (25m), Imitation Leather Thonging (50m) & Elastic Cord (25m). Some Pony Beads, Eyes and Bells will also be available in larger amounts and Clear Pony Beads will be in single colour packs.

SPECIAL OFFERS
Our Special Offers and End of Line pages have really grown. We need to clear some of these things before we can make room for the other items we want to stock. As well as the Plastic Beads we have always had on these pages, we also have Pompoms, Seed Beads, Sequins, Plastic Canvas Numbers, Sew on Motifs / Badges, Joggle Eyes, and Beading Cord off-cuts. 

We have 2 special pages - Other Craft Items which contains Brooch Bars, Mixed Pompoms, Swing Sale Tickets, Various Earring Findings and more. 

The second special page is 'Miscellaneous' - these are items we brought for a fete which didn't go ahead. We are selling these items at cost just to get rid of them. These are not Craft Items but they are all good value - Brooches, Colour it yourself Stickers & Hats, Erasers, Pens, Pencils, Tattoos, Balloons, Bouncing Jet Balls & Lucky Dip Items.

HAVE SOME FUN
We have added some FUN pages - just for your entertainment. They include a Battleships Game, Pairs Game and General Knowledge Quizzes, we will be adding new quizzes every few weeks. Also in this area are some customer pages, we have already added Delivery times and Customer comments (with their permission) and hope to a add pictures and details of what you do for a hobby and a forum (discussion) page. If you have anything you would like to add to these pages or any ideas for other pages please let us know at . 

HOLIDAYS
In past years we have had problems when staff go on holiday and struggled through with too little manpower. This resulted in delivery times extended quite a few times a year. This year we have decided to close for 3 weeks and all staff are taking their holidays during this time. We realise this will be very inconvenient to some customers and apologise in advance. The holiday closedown will be from Wednesday 28th July 2004 to Wednesday 18th August 2004. You will still be able to order during this time, there will be a notice on the site and confirmation emails will also let you know about the closure. Your orders would be held on a Secure Server until we re-opened when we will get your parcels out as soon as we can - we should all be refreshed and raring to go.

Spring 2004 - Newsletter

Welcome to all our new and existing customers. Spring has really sprung around here - people are sneezing all over the place! With the warmer weather our thoughts turn to the summer holidays and what to do with the children .... but more on that later .... first a little history lesson.

HISTORY

4 years ago some of Dianne's Knitting Yarns customers were asking where they could find small amounts of craft components. They wanted just a few beads or one pair of eyes to complete a jumper or knitted toy. They couldn't find anywhere online that would do this, most of the sites they looked at had a minimum order amount or high postage costs. The few sites they did find only had packs of 1000 beads or 100 eyes, this isn't what their customers wanted. Their investigations also showed that quite a few people wanted to 'test' a craft by buying only a few items - just in case they didn't like it.

Carole's Crafts (now Craft Bits) was born to fill this void. Our Mission Statement was to supply small amounts with no minimum order, to have 'up-front' postage costs and a simple to navigate site. We hope we have achieved this and it will not change in the foreseeable future. However everything must evolve and Craft Bits is no exception. As we have grown we have noticed customers ordering multiple packs of some items more often. We would like to serve these customers better, and maybe keep some of our 'tester' customers for a bit longer.

PRESENT

The range of products we stock needs to grow. We have recently added Iron-on Rhinestones in 9 different designs at £1.65 each. The Special Offers page is added to regularly and some of the Voting Forms (see below) are about new ranges.

FUTURE

To aid us in building up Craft Bits we have now added Voting Forms to most of the product pages - just click the pink V at the top of each page.

  • Some of the options on the form are for additional types of items i.e. Bump Chenille on the Chenille Stems page.

  • Some are for larger packs of items i.e. Boxes of 100 Chenille Stems in single colours.

  • We have not added prices to the larger pack options - if you would like to know the approximate price before you vote please let us know and we will try to add these.

  • If there are any other options we have not added please let us know in the box at the bottom of the forms.

  • By adding your name / email and asking to be notified if the item is added, you are not committing yourself to anything.

  • After you vote you will be taken back to the same product page.

BACK TO THE CHILDREN

We have been looking at kits for Childrens crafts - we think this is the easiest way to get them interested. We already have Pencil Cases full of Pony Beads and hopefully will soon have some Pompom kits. If you have any other suggestions for kits or crafts to do with children please let us know at . By the way - Dianne's Knitting Yarns have just put down the price of their 3D By Me Kits which are ideal for children.

Winter 2003/4 - Newsletter

We really can't believe it's been almost a year since we sent the last newsletter out - sorry to all those who have requested one in the last few months - we really have been too busy to think, let alone write. This time of year is traditionally our quiet time - the rush of making Christmas Decorations and Presents is over - Valentines Day is still a way off and Easter - well we just can't think of making Chicks & Spring Bonnets while the rain hits the window. So we now have time to think and write about what we will do in the next year.

Firstly we would like to say a word about last year - WOW! We can't think of a better word to describe it - the number of orders tripled and we were rushed off our feet all year. Each month we thought we couldn't get any busier - but we did - with a massive peak in October 2003 that had us running around like greyhounds.

However we did have a couple of set backs this year.

Some stock was not living up to our standards - we have withdrawn Alphabet Beads from our site and Pompoms have been put on the Special Offers page at discounted prices to clear some space. We will stock these products again if we can find another supplier which has the right products at the right price and, more importantly, at the right quality.

We also had a few problems with staffing levels - holidays, unexpected illnesses and high order levels hit us hard a couple of times last year. Thank you to everyone who was patient with us and understood about the late arrival of orders.

In our last newsletter we said we had moved our site to a different hosting company because of problems with reliability. This is going really well and there haven't been any problems - however if you know otherwise please let us know at

We are still intending to put 'voting forms' on the product pages where you will be able to 'vote' for other colours, types, pack sizes etc. The more votes the more likely we are to stock what you need. If you want to give us some suggestions in the meantime please email us at .

The popular Special Offer Beads will be back this year. We buy very large bags of mixed beads and spend many happy hours sorting and bagging them. It's like putting a kid in a sweet shop and we all join in - however we never know what we are going to get, or how much of each. The pages are not dynamically updated and are only changed a couple of times a day. This means we sometimes sell out and cannot fill your order, we always let you know and give you an option on what to do - please bear with us. Hopefully we will be changing to a database driven site soon - this should solve the problem.

We had very little feedback about putting a 'customer area' on the site and having looked at other craft forums we have decided not to go ahead. However we would like to have an active links page - If you have a website (or shop) selling or displaying your creations, you could advertise it free (at the webmasters discretion!) email .

Spring 2003 - Newsletter

In the last couple of months we have had some major problems with the company who hosted our site. Many customers noticed that, from time to time, all our images disappeared - some brave souls still ordered though - Thank You So Much.

We were also unable to update our site for long periods of time - items went out of stock but we were unable to let you know before you ordered. We are really sorry to anyone who was affected and hope you will have another look now we are 'fixed'.

Yes - We have moved to another hosting company and are very happy with them. However anyone who may have book-marked us with a page name like www.knitting-yarn.co.uk/css/... will find this link may no longer work. We are still part of the CPU Enterprises group, and have a link with Dianne's Knitting Yarns, but we now have our own hosting for www.craftbits.co.uk. (BTW - Dianne's Knitting Yarns was also having problems and have moved to www.cpu-enterprises.com) 

All this has kept us very busy over the last 4 months - hence the absence of Newsletters. But now we could really do with some customer feedback - hence this Newsletter.

Last time we informed you of some items being withdrawn. Some have already gone and some are down to the last few packs. Now we can update our site regularly we will be putting some of these items in the special offers pages. Please bear in mind when ordering that there may only be one or 2 packs left. We will note this online, but updates are not instant so items may go out of stock. If this happens to your order we will let you know and give you the choice of changing or canceling.

Now down to the main reason for this intrusion into your inbox.

We could really do with some feedback on what new items to stock. As we are so busy filling orders etc. we get very little time to actually DO any crafts nowadays.

Winter 2002 - Newsletter

Craft Bits is undergoing a bit of a change at the moment. Regular customers will have noticed a new name on some emails. Lucy has joined us to answer any general enquiries while Jenny has moved to dealing only with orders. I say only - the number of orders have increased so rapidly during the last 6 months her job is still a demanding one.

You will probably have noticed the big i on the product pages - clicking on this will take you to more information about the items (in a pop-up window). There is also a form on the page to submit ideas for the items - we are really looking forward to hearing what you do with your orders. There is also a shopping basket icon which takes you direct to what is in your basket without ordering more items.

Special Offer Plastic Beads

We will continue to get Special Offer Beads but they do sell out quite quickly so please bear with us if we haven't got enough to fill your order. We cannot guarantee getting what you ordered in again, as we do not know what we are getting until the (very big) bags arrive. There are quite a few waiting to go online already - the problem is finding the time. Things are expected to slow down a little in the New Year, so look out for more bargains then.

Boring Bits

Due to changes at our payment office (at CPU Enterprises Head Office) we are no longer able to accept cheques unless by prior agreement. Our online shopping basket has a secure credit card facility [technical bit - 128 Encryption Secure Socket Layer Server provided by mal's e-commerce]. This means your details can only be accessed by authorised staff at the CPU Enterprises Payment Office. We can still accept cheques but you will need to let us know before you order. Delivery time will be extended due to both the initial wait for the Cheque to arrive at the payment office and for the Cheque to clear.

Holiday Opening

Due to holidays in the CPU Enterprises payment office we will not be able to send any parcels after Saturday 21st December. Orders received After Noon on Friday 20th December will be made up ready to send as soon as the Payment Office re-opens. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Autumn 2002 - Newsletter

In our last newsletter we said our New Secure Shopping Basket was proving very popular. Wow - what an understatement - you obviously find it much better as our orders have gone up over 500%. Thanks to all our new and existing customers - it has made all the hard work worth while.

We recently took a mini poll of a few of our customers (thanks to those who replied) and as a result have decided to change our name. The website will still be exactly the same with the same quality of service and goods - just the name on the page and paperwork will change. Carole Aldous will still be in charge and Jenny Woods will still be in Customer Services. Our Warehouse staff will be working just as hard to get your order out as quickly (and correctly) as possible. We also have a lot of help from our Parent Company (CPU Enterprises) in the Payment Office - and our Sister Company, Dianne's Knitting Yarns - Thank You all.

And the new name? Out of a choice of 4 names Craft Bits came out top. We have been using the domain name (www.craftbits.co.uk) for quite a while (submitting to search engines etc.) so you may already have noticed it. The Carole's Crafts links will still work for another 18 months at which point we will decide whether to renew it or not. If you have any comments about the new name or anything else please contact me at - I look forward to hearing from you.

Special Offer Plastic Beads

We have been getting big (and we mean big) bags of mixed plastic beads and sorting them out into different types. It was great fun - we felt like kids in a sweet factory! The result is that we have various bags of beads at low prices. The down side is that we never know what we are getting so we may not be able to repeat the offers, we also sometimes only get a few bags of each so stock is limited. Please bear with us if you order something that has sold out - we try to keep the website up-to-date but sometimes things get so hectic it is hard.

Craft Bits Company Policy

Quite a few people have emailed asking for a Catalogue. We have looked into supplying these but have found they would be very expensive to keep up-to-date. Part of our policy is to supply craft components and kits to you, our customers, at the lowest possible prices. By not spending money on Catalogues we hope we can continue to do this.

The other main part of our policy is to supply goods in smaller quantities than other companies - so if you only want one pair of eyes or one pompom we can do this. We don't have a minimum order amount.

Summer 2002 - Newsletter

We have recently added a Secure Shopping Basket to our site which has proved very popular. Filling out the Order Form with codes and prices was a bit of a chore. Now you just put the number of packs you require in the box next to the item and hit the add button - easy, it even adds it up as you go along. We hope this makes ordering from Carole's Crafts a much easier experience. We game it a good testing but if you find any problems we have missed please let us know .
